Iranian religous leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: "death to the uk"

Photobucket
Ok so we haven't gotten off to an amazing start this week -Iran's religious leader/supreme authority Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claims "death to Britain", accusing our government of being "the most treacherous" of all political corruption in western civilization. Admittedly, the expenses scandal was detrimental to the public view of British parliament, but do you really feel a bunch of MP's taking about 0.0001% of taxpayers money is at the epicenter of global political misconduct? If anyone is exposing themselves as treacherous it is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for launching this verbal attack on the entire UK population, when the blame lies solely with the misguided actions of our government.

In my opinion the reason the United kingdom fell under the Ayatollah's cross hairs during his speech was due to BBC news coverage of the protests in Tehran, which oppose Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's controversial victory in the Iranian presidential election(which has been compromised as some protest its authenticity), however the constant filming of Iran's capital possibly diminished the integrity of Tehran in the religious leader's eyes.

Now I know that the Ayatollah's warped views do not replicate that of the Iranian population, as this is merely another middle eastern religious crackpot inciting hatred for the west (how original). The only difference is that he is trying to point out faults in our government, which is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black as the Iranian government has been writhing in political turmoil for decades. The Iranian political system has consistently set about ostracizing itself from western civilization (possibly due to the fact we are all "infidels" and associate with the devil on a daily basis), yet they step out of the shadows every now and then to criticize our "western values". I am in no way devaluing true Islamic tradition but if we wish to have sex before marriage, gay rights etc... we can as we are not obligated to appease iran, and Islam holds no sway on UK politics.

What i am aiming to achieve from this blog is to find the general consensus on this situation (the Iranian religious leader's absurd take on the expenses scandal), leave me some comments and tell me what you think of my first post.

Much appreciated

Sam Elliott
